John Gwalbert Pawlikowski
75 years ago on 5th of March 1939 at the age of 78, John Gwalbert Aleksander Pawlikowski coat-of-arms Cholewa died in Lviv (Lwów), an economist, journalist, a politician, historian of literature (an expert on the J.Slovak mysticism), a mountaineer and a speleologist, a pioneer of nature conservation; professor at University of Agriculture in Dublany (1891-1904), since 1902 a member of the National League (since 1905 its Central Committee), a co-organiser (1904) and president (1907-1915) of the National Democratic Party in Galicia, since 1919 a member of the Supreme Council of the Popular National Union, a founder and editor-in-chief (until 1935) of the "Mountain Peaks", advocate of the creation of the Tatra National Park, an honorary member of both the Society and the Tatra Highlanders Association, an titular citizen of Zakopane, winner of the Golden laurel of the Polish Academy of Literature.
