Hermann Wagener
125 years ago, on 22nd of April 1889 22 at the age of 74, ( Friedrich Wilhelm ) Hermann Wagener died in Friedenau (now a district of Berlin), a lawyer, journalist, a columnist and a conservative politician; a monarchist, founder (1848) and chief editor of the " Neue Zeitung Preußische” newspaper (of the Prussian “old conservatives”) also called (from the Iron Cross in its masthead) Kreuzzeitung; denominational member of the Catholic- Apostolic congregation (Katholisch – apostolische Gemeinden); 1861-1872 a co-founder and an activist of the People's Prussian Society; 1867-1871 a member of the Prussian House of Representatives and then the Reichstag; an enemy of liberalism, the bourgeoisie and the Jews, a promoter of Christian social conservatism, proclaiming the need for a "social Pope" and a “social Emperor " (Bismarck’s consultant in social legislation), the author of the official political program (1876) of the German Conservative Party.
