Witold Leon Czartoryski
years ago , on February 10th 1864 , prince Witold Leon Czartoryski was born in Weinhaus (Vienna ),a conservative politician ( associated with the " Podolaks’ " ) , a social and an economic activist, a dendrologist, a founder (1906 ) of the Landed Gentry Society (Towarzystwa Kółek Ziemian), a member of the Galician Sejm (lower house of Parliament) ( 1908-1914 ) , since 1913 a hereditary member of the Austrian House of Lords , in 1918, appointed a Commissioner for Galicia by the Regency Council of the Kingdom of Poland, became closely associated with the National Democratic Party ( especially on the Ukrainian issue ) before World War I, in the years 1922 – 30 was a senator during the first and second term on behalf of the Popular National Union , very religious , he was a member of the Society of Mary and the Catholic Action activist . He died in 1945. One of his twelve children was a blessed martyr of the Church, Father Michael Czartoryski OP (from birth John Francis Czartoryski, 1897-1944), chaplain of the Army, executed by the Germans in the hospital with the wounded and sick, whom he did not want to leave behind.
