Ivan Bunin
60 years ago, on the 8th of November 1953 at the age of 83, Ivan Alekseyevich Bunin died in Paris, a poet, novelist and a translator, a symbolist and a master of (what is known as) brocade and lyrical prose; from 1909 a member of the Russian Academy of Science; a monarchist and an enemy of bolshevism ( “heinous gallery of criminals”), and of hitlerist national socialism; he emigrated from Russia in 1919; the first Russian laureate of the Nobel Prize for literature in 1933.
