Alfredo Covelli
100 years ago, on February 22nd 1914, Alfredo Covelli was born in Bonito ( Campania ), a monarchist politician ( pro-saubadian ), member of the Constituent Assembly ( 1946-1948 ) on behalf of the National Bloc of Freedom ( BNL ), as well as the next seven consecutive legislatures from 1948 to 1976, in 1948 founded the conservative – monarchist National Party ( PNM ) and he headed it until 1959, ie. until its merger with ( founded in 1954 as a Christian-democratic secession from PNM ) – Achille Lauro’s monarchist People's Party (PMP ) into the Italian Democratic Party of Monarchist Unity ( PDIUM ) as a result of yet another conflict and division during the re- elections in 1968, conducted ( in 1971) a fusion of neo-fascist PDIUM Italian Social Movement (MSI ), setting up the Italian Social Movement – National Right (MSI -DN ), of which he was chairman in the years 1972-73, but after a conflict with G. Almirante in 1977 formed a new conservative party National Democracy – Assembly of the Right (DN- CD), which, broke up two years later, 15 I 1998 Victor Emmanuel of Savoy appointed him an honorary chairman of the senators Council of the Kingdom. He died the same year.
