Archbishop Jakub Świnka
700 years ago on March 4th 1314 Archbishop Jakub Świnka coat-of-arms Świnka, had died, a Catholic priest and a precursor of the idea of a Polish national-state, from 1283 an Archbishop of Gniezno, an energetic defender of a particular order and organisation of the Church, the country and the Polish nation against the onslaught of Germanisation, a promoter of the reunification of the Kingdom of Poland, an organiser of the so-called (1293) Second coalition of the Piast princes (Premyslas II, Ladislaus the Short and his brother Kazimierz) (the so-called O.Balzer hypothesis of the first coalition of the year 1287 was rejected by modern science); he crowned both Premyslas II (1295) and Wenceslas II (1300 ).
