Chomeini25 years ago on June 3rd 1989 at the age of 86 Ruhollah Musawi Khomeini [ pers. آیتالله روحالله خمینی ] died in Tehran, a Shi'ite imam, an Ayatollah [ آيتالله – an expert on theology and the viceroy of the twelfth Imam ]; a representative of the mystical and gnostic type of Shi'ism; a long-time dissident opposing the pro-American, secularist and despotic regime of the Shah’s of the Pahlavi dynasty (for this reason, since 1964 in emigration) from the religiously – conservative and democratic position at the same time; the spiritual leader of the traditionalist Islamic Revolution (1977 to 1979), and after its victory – Iran's supreme leader from December 3rd 1979 until his death; he established a system of religious democracy (theocratic), referring to the ideas of classical political philosophy, both the Arabic (Al- Farabi ) and Greek (Plato – in particular the theocratic "second country“ of Laws, with its "anchor", or Nocturnal Council as a prototype of the Guardian Council of the Constitution).
