Lukacs JA90 years ago , January 31st 1924 , Lukács János Albert , later known as John Adalbert Lukacs was born in Budapest ( of a Catholic father and a Jewish mother), a historian and an essayist ; during World War II he served in the Hungarian Labour Battalions for Jews escaped deportation but fled to the U.S. from Hungary before the Communists in 1946 , a long time professor of history at the Catholic Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia and a visiting professor at many other prestigious American universities , as a historian specialising in the history of World War II ( also known as a biographer of Hitler ) and of the " Cold War " defining himself as a reactionary, a conservative critic of populism, democracy, liberalism , national socialism and communism, along with Thomas Molnar a Hungarian Catholic patron of the traditionalist current within the American conservatism called" paleo-conservatism ".
