100 years ago, on the 13th of November 1913 – Jesús Evaristo Casariego y Fernández-Noriega was born in Tineo (Asturias), a novelist, publicist, historian and a political scientist; descendant of an aristocratic conquistador family (his sixteenth century ancestor was the governor of Western India);theorist of traditionalism and legitimism; a founder (1932) of the Carlists Youth in Madrid; in the time of the Crusade a soldier of the requites (participant of the defence of Oviedo); after the war an organiser and a professor (1942-48) of the Department of Political Sciences at the Complutense University in Madrid, editor-in-chief of the “El Alcázar” magazine and a correspondent for “ABC” in South America, afterwards a professor of political law at the University of Oviedo; president of Royal Institute of Asturias Studies and an initiator of the “Great Asturias Encyclopaedia “; involuntary culprit of the mystification associated with the alleged (flattering) article by Marx about the carlists. He died in 1990.
